Extrema Fishing Spain and The Extremadura Tourist Board
|
Over the last two years Extrema Fishing Spain have been employed to guide for the Extremadura Tourist Board promoting the Fishing in Extremadura. June 2008 A group of 13 Angling Journalists and Tour Operators from Ireland, Germany, UK and France have just sampled the fantastic fishing this area has to offer. With just two short 6 hour Carp Sessions on The Orellana and Sierra Brava to show the potential of the fishing, we managed around a dozen runs on day 1 on the Orellana and 5 runs in Sierra Brava day 2.
Needless to say, with all the noise and soaring temperatures the fishing was to prove a challenge, however the alarms sounded a couple more times and Martine had her first experience of Carp fishing, she coped very well with this hard fighting Double. Sept 2007 Our second challenge was to guide Keith on two short sessions, the first on The Orellana for Carp and second the River Guadiana for big Barbel. Day 1 with only a few hours to record footage and not a ripple in sight, we had a difficult task. However as hope was fading, off went a rod with a screaming one toner and Keith was into his first Orellana Carp. As most of the Carp here it was immaculate, it took the scales to 17lb. A little disappointing for a mornings fishing, we didn't do to bad as on the opposite bank 18 rods only managed a solitary Tench.

This also proved difficult, the cameras present surely a bad omen. We only managed to land several fish around 5lb so we decided to arrange an interview with a local angler from Merida, Abel, who fishes the River regularly. The guests from UK were mainly Tour operators, some who have Carp fished all over the world, others who had little or no experience of Specimen Carp Fishing. The morning sport was hectic, to put it mildly, 41 runs, with 20 fish landed, the best being a 24 lb Common falling to Ian. Alex converted nine of his 18 runs and included an 18lb 8oz Mirror and Commons to 22lb, as well as Crucian Carp and Tench.
